I am finishing up some classes through my local college for my Medical Admin Assistant certificate. Most of my rural Dr offices around here are looking for what they call a Medical Office specialist - someone who knows the medical software, appts, billing, coding etc so I will be starting a coding class soon. My question is I can def see the benefits of knowing both icd-9 AND icd-10 at this point in the year but what if a school is teaching only icd-10 now? If your taught in icd-10 will you be proficient in the icd-9 also without any actual training in it?
